Transitioning in to a different phase of life

On a frigid overcast rainy day in early April 2011, a six-year-old girl made her way towards school under an umbrella walking carefully along the side of the road under the watchful gaze of her father. Fear and anticipation were residing in that small girl’s mind and why wouldn’t that be? After all, it was her first day at her new school, and nervousness was normal. The unusual thing was that the girl didn’t seem to be quite pleased with the prospect of going to an entirely new school, perhaps she still couldn’t let go of the severe attachment she had for her old school, her old life, but that’s the thing about time, it steals the details away from us. After what seemed like an eternity she finally stepped inside the building, her face alight with curiosity as she looked around her surroundings with a mild excitement thundering in her heart. The girl was quite oblivious to the fact that she would be spending the next twelve years of her life in the confinements of this very build...

Some of my favourite books

In this fast-paced, globalized world where technology and electronic gadgets surround us everywhere we go, it is important to take a step back and embrace the simplicity of old-school ways. Holding a paperback in your hands can bring back nostalgic feelings and rekindle the joy of getting lost in a magical story. If you are looking to reminisce about the pleasures of childhood reading, here are some of the best and most admired novels that will turn anyone into an avid bookworm.  The Power of Your Subconscious Mind In 1963, Dr Joseph Murphy wrote a book that has since sold over a million copies worldwide and is considered one of the best spiritual self-help books of all time. The Power of Your Subconscious Mind focuses on the importance of self-love and how it can help people overcome their fears, sleep better, and have healthier, long-lasting relationships. Dr Murphy explains in his book that life events are influenced by the workings of our conscious and subconscious minds. After...

A Thousand Splendid Suns

A THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS BY: KHALED HOSSEINI  “One could not count the moons that shimmer on her roofs, or the thousand splendid suns that hide behind her walls.” PLOT: Set in the war-torn country of Afghanistan and stretched over nearly three decades. The book gives readers a glimpse of what Afghanistan had been like during the Soviet occupation and how countrymen suffered at the hands of the Taliban. Amid all this pandemonium, a friendship blooms between two Afghan women, Mariam and Laila. Each has a history of their own and differences that frequently cause conflicts between them. Even though they were brought jarringly together due to the tragic repercussions of the war, their connection becomes as strong as the ties between mother and daughter. Years pass by and life becomes a desperate struggle for them, against starvation and brutality they endure from their husband. Yet love and kindness cause people to act in unexpected ways that help to overcome even the m...

My last day of high school

My last day of high school- 15.02.2023 I find it hard to believe that today is my last day of school. It feels incredibly surreal to be saying goodbye, as it marks the end of a remarkable twelve-year journey. This school holds so many memories for me. It's where I first made friends, where we shared both laughter and pain and where we experienced the true meaning of love and friendship. As I reflect on the past twelve years with my classmates and teachers, I realize just how much this school has given me. It's a bittersweet feeling to bid farewell to everyone I've known since childhood. I can still vividly recall how we would all enter the school gates in the morning, creating our sanctuary away from the chaos of the outside world for the next eight hours. It feels devastating to know that I'll never experience that again; that chapter of my life has come to an end. Transitioning back to reality after living in a fairytale for twelve years is incredibly difficult. I ...
